William Joseph Sewell Jr., age 77, of Branford passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021 with his children by his side.  

Born in Bridgeport on July 5, 1943, he was the son of the late William Joseph Sewell and the late Josephine Lutheran Sewell. He was a longtime resident of Huntington before moving to Milford and ultimately to Branford.  A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, he enjoyed many years in the fields of real estate and sales.  Anyone who knew Bill remembers how much he loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles, New Haven pizza (he was a fierce Sally’s partisan), and his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his two devoted children: David Sewell and his wife, Alexandra, of Larchmont, NY and Kerry Wetmore and her husband, Christopher, of Orange, as well as five beloved grandchildren, Anna and John Sewell and Grace, John, and Molly Wetmore.  Bill also had the blessings of a cherished nephew, Justin Frazier, his wife, Melissa, and their children, Nathaniel and Jude, of Ventura, California, as well as his best friend, Katharine Nylen, of Ashfield, Massachusetts.

Out of concern for the safety of his friends and family, Bill asked to postpone his memorial in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The family will host a celebration of his life in July 2021.  Details will follow as the date gets closer.
