William N. Mavrides, 88, of New Haven passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2017 surrounded by his children. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Louise Frandy Mavrides. Mr. Mavrides was born in New Haven August 8, 1928, son of the late Nicolaos and Christina Mavrides. He graduated from Hillhouse High School and received a degree in accounting from Quinnipiac College. He worked for several years at New Haven Quilt & Pad Co. and retired from National Properties of Fairfield. He cherished his memories of family trips to Greece and Italy; yearly drives to Ohio to visit family, and most recently, spending summers on the Cape and vacationing in Disney World with his loving grandson, Marcello. He was very proud of his Greek heritage and the epic journey of his family. He shared this story with new friends and old, often with a piece of his famous bakalava. He is survived by his son, Ronald Mavrides; daughters, Debra Mavrides-Russell and Kim-Alyson DeMico; and son in law, Marcello DeMico; grandson Marcello Odysseus DeMico; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, both here and abroad, who remained always in his heart. He was predeceased by two brothers, Odysseus and Homer, and a sister, Victoria.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange Friday morning at 11:00. Calling hours prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 at the church. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
