William Allen Harris, 81, of Newburgh, N.Y. passed away May 21, 2017 in St. Barnabas Hosp., Bronx, NY. Born in New Haven Dec. 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Ernest James and Rachel Hamilton Harris. He was a graduate of Hillhouse High School, Class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three and a half years, earning numerous decorations. He later entered the US Army National Guard and retired with 26 years of military service. He worked for Pepsi Cola Co. for 16 years and later, worked as a corrections officer for the State of New York for 27 years, retiring in March of 2006. He is survived by 3 sons, William A. Harris Jr., Tishawn and Tishae Harris; 2 daughters, Racille Ashley & Nicka Harris; a brother, Raymond Harris; 10 grandchildren,  his life partner, Jacqueline South and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Tutt.

 Friends are invited to Requiem Mass & Burial Office in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 111 Whalley Ave., New Haven Tuesday, May 30th at 10:30 am. Viewing prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:30. Interment, with Military Honors, in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
