Vilma Mazzacane Farino, 92, of 1450 Whitney Ave., Hamden passed away Dec. 3, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Farino. Mrs. Farino was born in New Haven Sept 24, 1926, daughter of the late John F. and Ella Mendillo Mazzacane.She was retired fron Southern New England Telephone Co and CVS. She was a member of the greatest generation and a veteran of life. She loved cooking and traveling and devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and particularly her great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor. She was past president of the Telephone workers Union (CUTW)
She is survived by her children, Lorraine Brewer (Philip) and their children, Lori, Wendy, Tony, Root and Holly (Lee); Patricia DeFrancesco (Nicholas) and their children Nicole (Peter), Christopher (Kristin) and Scott (Lauren); John Farino and his children, Kim, Michael and Lauren; and Barbara Heffernan and her children, Amy, Alyson, and Sean (Cindy), as well as 20 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Friday morning at 9:30. Mass in St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00 am. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery
