Vasilios Liontas, 98, passed away peacefully on April, 8, 2023. Vasilios is survived by his wife, Polyxeni Liontas; son Peter Liontas (Cathy) and daughter Katherine Liontas-Warren, his grandchildren Rachel Thompson (Jonathan), Alexander Liontas, Jason Liontas, Austin Warren, Colton Warren and great grandchild Arthur Thompson. He was also survived by brother Aristoteles and predeceased by sisters Eleni and Zenia.
He was born on June 22, 1924 in Korifi, Greece, the son of Panagiotis and Despina (Katrunis) Liontas. Vasilios immigrated to America in 1955, temporarily leaving behind his bride and newly born son to set up roots in Connecticut, all without knowing a word of English. He proudly became an American citizen 7 years later. He was dedicated to making his children's life better than his. He worked as a pressman for the Federal Paper Board Co and later as a machine operator for Cyclops Corp. until his retirement in 1989. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren and taking his donut shop coffee with him to the West Haven boardwalk, enjoying the scenery and talking politics with anyone who'd listen.
Memorial service will be Monday, April 17 at 11:00 AM in St. Barbara's Church on Racebrook Rd in Orange, CT. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:00. Burial will be at St Mary's Cemetery in Milford, CT.
