THEODORE E. BALEDES Obituary

Theodore E. Baledes, 84, of New Smyrna Beach, FL., formerly of New Haven, passed away Dec. 17, 2016 in Florida Hospital Hospicecare. Born in New Haven Nov. 18, 1932, he was the son of the late Estat and Mary Elizabeth Mihaelides Baledes. He graduated from Columbia University in 1954 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He then went on to a career as a successful Actuary in the insurance industry. He was a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange and also was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach, FL. where he served as treasurer on the church council for many years. He was a member of Speedway Chapter 410, Order of AHEPA. He loved golfing, fishing and assisting at his church. He will be remembered for his sense of humor in all of life’s situations. He had great love for his family and friends and will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carolyn Belenardo Baledes; one son Tab (Susi) Baledes of Erding, Germany; two daughters, Lisa DeMatteis-Lepore (Marco) of Danbury and Christine Baledes of East Haddam; five grandchildren, Paul, Christopher and Elizabeth Baledes, Nicholas Lepore and Ramona (Paul) Rothe; a great grandson, Tibo Rothe; and a beloved friend, Fred Peterson of Marietta, GA.

Funeral services will be held in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange Tuesday morning, Dec. 27th at 11:00. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment, with military honors, in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. Arrangements are in care of The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven. Contributions may be made to AHEPA New Smyrna Beach Memorial, Inc., 1326 S. Shangri La Drive, Daytona Beach, FL. 32119.
