Sophia King, 76 of West Haven, CT passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020.  
She was born in Athens Greece on March 15, 1944 to Konstantinos and Artemisia Markou.  In 1967, she met her future husband George, who was in the US Navy docked in Athens.  In 1970 they wed in Greece and after leaving her country, mother, two sisters and brother she settled in West Haven, CT.  

When she arrived in the United States, she began her schooling and became a US Citizen in 1974. During that time, she worked various jobs and raised her two daughters all while working full time.  In 1986, she began her career as a technician at Bayer Pharmaceuticals (formerly Miles Labs) where she worked until retirement in 2007.

Sophia lived her 76 years focusing on what really mattered to to her.  Her passions were many, foremost the love for her family and the Saint Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church where she was a lifelong member and involved in many fundraising activities.  She enjoyed nothing more than being with family and especially being a “Yia Yia” to her two grandchildren.  Her love, selflessness and devotion to her husband, her inseparable dedication to the care of her eldest daughter Katherine and the eternal love she received from her youngest, Linda was known by all.

Sophia is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years George, her daughter Katherine King of West Haven, CT and daughter Linda Ressler, grandchildren Jakob and Jaycey Ressler of Milford, CT. She also leaves behind sisters Maria Titos of Greece, Katerina Vatsaki of Germany and brother Sarantis Markou of NY, all of whom she was in touch with often.  As well as many nieces nephews and good friends that she loved dearly.
