SANDRA (Kucenski) WILLMOTT Obituary

Sandra Holly Kucenski Willmott, 78, passed away suddenly at home June 20, 2021. Mrs. Willmott was the wife of the late Curtis C. Willmott who passed in 2014 and Dolph Santello who she married in 2018. Sandra was born in New Haven January 20, 1943 daughter of the late Stanley and Gertrude Pagels Kucenski. She worked with Curt and her son Michael operating Willmott Realtors until her passing. Besides her husband Dolph she is survived by her children Michael (Imee) Willmott, Diane (Angel) Perez, Donna (Keith) Putzel; her siblings John (Anne) Kucenski, Thomas (Marcia) Kucenski, Heidi (Richard) Millington, Pam (Myles) Standish; grandchildren Carl Willmott, John (Christine) Hearns, Kris (Emily) Danvers, James (Melissa) Hearns, Thomas (Julie) Putzel, Lorraine (Eddy) Putzel, and Colleen (Jonah) Putzel; Great-Grandchildren Thomas Putzel Jr., Leila and Archer Putzel; Nieces and Nephews, Bryan and Kimberly Standish, Laura Millington Lawrence, Scott and Christian Millington, Christopher and Kevin Kucenski, and Stacey Roy; cousin Bo Viktor (Yvonne) Pagels; and her favorite cat Victoria will miss her too!
Sandra loved her family, mystery novels and historical novels, a poet by nature, marching band music, and folk music (John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot). When Curt was alive, she loved to dance, and she loved to travel.  Quebec, Montreal, Sweden, England, Germany, the Bahamas and Florida were some of the destinations she enjoyed. Mom loved nature; she loved everything green and growing, and she had a green thumb for sure! She was a physical fitness guru, walked every day, either outside in fine weather, or inside on the treadmill if the weather was not fine. When she was younger, she was a jogger, and she practiced karate for many years. She and Curt also practiced tai chi for over twenty years. She grew up across the street from the beach in Momauguin; she loved the water! She graduated from East Haven High School in 1960 where she was a member of the Drum Corps. She attended one year of nursing school, then married and started her family; they started out in Stony Creek, then Guilford, eventually moving to East Haven where she spent most of her life, only moving to New Haven when she remarried. She worked for Dr. Freedman after her children went off to school and also ran Silver Birch Lodge in Harrison, Maine with Curt for many summers. Mom was exceedingly proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She had a beautiful, generous, kind spirit, and she spread love to every person she met.
A funeral service will be held in the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Friends and family may pay their respects one hour prior from 10:00 - 11:00. Interment will follow with Curt in Beaverdale Memorial Park. As much as Mom loved all kinds of flowers, she loved giving to others more.  Donations in lieu of flowers to Loaves and Fishes, 57 Olive Street, New Haven, CT 06511. www.loavesandfishesnh.com/donate.
