SALVATORE RUSSO Obituary

Salvatore Russo Jr. 88, of Branford, formerly of Amity Road, Woodbridge, passed away Dec. 30, 2018 in The Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of  the late Rita DeGennaro Russo.  He has been reunited with his favorite dance partner.
Mr. Russo was born in New Haven Nov. 22, 1930, son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Criscio Russo. A plumber by trade, he worked for the New Haven Dept. of Education for 30 years until his retirement in 1992.  He proudly served in the US Army from 1948 to 1950.He is survived by a daughter, Gina Russo Matteis of Branford, with whom he resided; a son, Salvatore Russo III ( Linda) of Florida; one sister, Rose Paturzo of North Haven; and three grandchildren, Lindsey Russo, Paul and Michelle Matteis. He was predeceased by two brothers, Pasquale and Ralph Russo and two sisters, Josephine (Tina) Torino and Florence Morro.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Friday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Road, Woodbridge Saturday morning at 10:00. Interment, with Military Honors will take place in East Side Cemetery,Woodbridge.  Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
