Richard D. Lohman, 80, of Woodbridge passed away on May 4, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is survived by his loving daughter, son-in-law, and grandson; Diane, David, and Dashiell Schroeder.
Ric was born in Chicago, IL on October 14, 1939. He served as a Navy search and rescue helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. While stationed in San Diego, he met his soon to be wife, Rosalie. Ric and Rosalie settled down in Orange County to raise their daughter, Diane. He was an aeronautical engineer for Rockwell International for 28 years working on control systems for the Trident submarine. In addition to a BS in Engineering from Marquette University, he also completed an MBA from California State University, Fullerton and a JD from Western State University. Ric and Rosalie moved from California to Florida when he retired in 2002. There he enjoyed teaching watercolor painting and playing golf with his wife. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary before her passing in 2009. Ric moved to Connecticut in 2016, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, to be closer to his daughter, Diane.
A memorial service for Richard will be held in California in the coming months.
