Roger Wheeler, 83, of Shelton, passed away peacefully July 17, 2021. He was born in Derby November 6, 1937 a son of the late Francis Hotchkiss Wheeler and Ella Louise McConney Wheeler. Roger worked as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration and was a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam era. He was a dedicated member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church helping during the annual Odyssey Festival, a fan of UConn athletics, a member and judge of the African Violet Society, and an avid traveler. He is survived by his brother Donald Wheeler, nephew Donald (Jeanette) Wheeler Jr.; nieces Nancy and Kristy Wheeler, and Gloriana Claus; and great nieces Jillian and Andrea Wheeler. Roger also had a close friendship with Al Rouke.
A private Greek Orthodox funeral service was held and burial with his parents in Oak Cliff Cemetery in Derby. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT 06477.
