Robert S. Petrillo, 81, of North Haven passed away Feb. 20, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anne Zito Petrillo. Bob was born in New Haven Aug. 15, 1936, son of the late Stephen A. and Rose DeMichael Petrillo. He served in the US Army and was a graduate of the US Army School of Radar. In 1970 he founded the Edison Electric Co. and was active as its CEO until his death. He served as president of the former New Haven Electrical Contractors Assn. and served on many technical school advisory boards. He also served as a police officer for the Town of North Haven, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Pine Grove Club, a charitable organization that started in North Haven and was a past president of the Society of American Magicians #127. He is survived by one son, Stephen (Sylvia) Petrillo of North Haven; one daughter, Diane Petrillo of Hamden; a granddaughter, Melanie Petrillo of North Haven; a brother Gary (Janet) Petrillo of Wallingford; and brother in law, Michael Zito of Orange. He was predeceased by his long time companion, Marilyn Slavin Sola. His family would like to acknowledge the staff at Yale NH 6-5 and SP7-1 for their respectful and compassionate care.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Sunday from 3 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave. Monday morning at 9:45. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested the contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-9956 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL. 33607
