RAYMOND SERFILIPPI Obituary

Raymond Serfilippi, 89, of New Haven passed away peacefully Sept. 24, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Jennie Vecchi Serfilippi. Mr. Serfilippi was born in New Haven June 10, 1928, son of the late Sebastiano and Josephine Travaglini Serfilippi. He was a lifelong resident of New Haven, graduated from St. Anthony’s School in 1943 and Commercial High School in 1947. He played basketball at Commercial where he was known as the "Cat”. He worked in the food service industry most of his life, working at Burry’s Biscuits, Hostess Cakes and later, for Stop & Shop prior to his retirement at age 84. He was extremely devoted to his loving wife of 60 years and deeply devoted to his two sons and five grandchildren. His family was his passion. He especially enjoyed having Sunday meals with his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dennis Serfilippi of New Haven and Claude (Coreen) Serfilippi of Greenwich; a sister, Edwina Petrillo of North Haven; and five grandchildren, Savannah, Andreas, Arabella, Sebastiano and Raphael as well as many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anio Serfilippi and Irmo Zandri.

Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday morning in St. Anthony's Church at 10:00 Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church, 25 Gold St., New Haven, CT 06519.
