Pedro (Peter) Julio Vega
Left this earth after a brief illness on January 15, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Pedro was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico on July 4, 1952. He grew up in New Haven, CT where he graduated from the New Haven public school system. As a lifelong resident, Pedro worked various jobs. Including the Children’s Museum, St. Raphael’s Hospital, and for many years as an ambassador for the city of New Haven. He is survived by his wife, JoeAnn Cotton-Vega, children Steven (Stephanie) Cotton, Debra Collier, John Cotton, Peter Taylor, Pia Taylor, Simone (Deoug) Ssemwezzi, Edward Taylor, Joelanda Vega, Peter Vega Jr., Noel Vega, Madeline Vega and siblings Max Ramos, Jose-Antonio, Jose Angel Ramos, Jose Luis Ramos, Lydia Zayas and Angelita Zayas. Also, longtime friend Iris Rivera. He was predeceased by his mother Ofrecina Marquez, father Jose Juan Marquez, son Joey Vega and daughter Darnell (Candy) Anderson. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pedro always had an electric smile and an infectious laugh. He was a kind, caring, and gentle person who loved music, vinyl records, and was an avid Red Sox fanatic. We will cherish his memory always!!! Services will be held on Sunday January 23, 2002 at the Celentano Funeral Home in New Haven, CT 06511 from 2pm-4pm. Floral arrangements can be sent to 424 Elm St. New Haven, CT 06511. Repass will be held at The American legion 3005 Dixwell Ave. Hamden, CT 06518 from 5pm-9pm.
