Nancy Ann Mastrobuoni Zaino, 85, of East Gate Lane, Hamden, passed away Dec. 6, 2016 in The Arden House. She was the wife of the late Ciro (Gene) Zaino. Born in New Haven Jan. 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Onofrio Mastrobuoni. Nancy was a communicant of St. Aedan’s Church for 62 years. She was past president of the Ladies Eucharistic League and chaired the centennial celebration. She was an administrative assistant at St. Aedan’s School for 20 years, retiring in 1996. During those years, she established the Alumni Association and held many fund raising events for the church and school. In her youth, she was a member of the Connecticut Women’s Swimming Team and a life guard at the YWCA. She was a Girl Scout Leader and an arts and crafts instructor. An avid fan of ballroom dancing and the big band era, she also enjoyed playing pinochle, bridge and gardening. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Ariosto of Hamden and Linda (Frank) Darling of Orange; and her grandchildren, Frank and Lisa Sullivan, Jonathan and Robert Peckingham and Maria Darling.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) Monday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aedan’s Church at 10:00. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 8 pm. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park
