Celebrating the Life of Michael Joseph Iagrossi
August 6, 1949 – November 16, 2025
Michael Joseph Iagrossi’s story began in New Haven, Connecticut, on August 6,
1949, as the beloved son of Joseph and Maria Sophia Iagrossi. From the start,
Michael carried with him a spirit of resilience, kindness, and devotion to those he
loved.
In his youth, Michael attended LaSalette Seminary, an experience that profoundly
influenced his character and deepened his faith. He later attended Merrimack
College, earning his bachelor’s degree before proudly serving in the Governor’s
Horse Guard. His love for animals was lifelong — he cared deeply for his horse,
Master, and his Great Dane, Gin, companions who reflected his gentle nature.
Michael’s life was filled with adventure. In his youth, he set out across the country
in his cherished 1975 Datsun 280Z, a journey that sparked his love of travel and
the open road. The beach was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace and joy.
Later, after retiring from Finlay Fine Jewelry, he revisited the Grand Canyon with
family — a moment that brought his story full circle, blending his love of
exploration with his devotion to those closest to him.
Sports were another passion. Whether cheering for the New York Giants, the
Yankees, the UConn Huskies, or his grandchildren’s hockey teams, Michael’s
enthusiasm was contagious. His greatest pride, however, was always his family.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his children
Andrew (Ashley) Iagrossi, Charles (Felicia) Iagrossi, and Yvonne Rohde; his five
grandchildren, Lorenzzo, Shane, Riley, Gino, and Domenico; his lifelong
companion Nicole Rohde; and his siblings William C. Iagrossi, Marisa (Paul)
Vitelli, and Marygrace (Stephen) Hunt. He also leaves behind a niece Nicole, a
nephew Matthew, many cousins, and countless friends who will forever cherish his
memory.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Guthrie Mackie, and his parents,
Joseph and Maria Sophia Iagrossi.
Family and friends, are invited to gather in remembrance at Celentano Funeral
Home, 424 Elm Street, New Haven, CT, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from
5–7 p.m. A celebration of Michael’s life will follow on Friday, November 21, 2025,
at 10 a.m., with burial at Saint Lawrence Cemetery
