Mary Hughes, 90, passed away peacefully February, 11, 2024 with her family by her side. She was the widow of George Hughes. She was born in New Haven, CT July 23, 1933, daughter of Thomas and Louise Daros Kelly.
Mary grew up early on in West Haven, Conn. before the family relocated to the Hill section of New Haven on Rosette Street.   She was attended Saint Mary's High School in New Haven.   She went on to attend Yale University and the Yale School of Music where she was a voice major.   She also was a two time attendee enrolled at the Yale Summer School of Music - Norfolk at Norfolk, Connecticut.

Mary resided in Ansonia, Connecticut and was a long time Medical Secretary for Doctors at Cardiology Associates in Derby Connecticut and at Rosewood Hospital in Houston Texas.    She also resided over the years at Sugarland Texas as well as Harwich (Cape Cod) Massachusetts and most recently she was a resident at Pilgrim Manor of Covenant Living at Cromwell, Massachusetts

Mary was the devoted and loving mother of seven (7) children and is survived by...  James from Cape Cod, Mass., Kevin from Darlington, South Carolina, Tommy from Florida. Kelly from Conway, South Carolina, Daniel from Conroe, Texas, David from Southbury, Connecticut and Patrick from Wallingford, Connecticut...

Mary was a lover of all things outdoors and she loved to cook (fried dough was a grandkids favorite)...   She loved the ocean with a passion and could never get enough seashore time.   She was an avid and powerful reader and lover of good books and could easily read through 2 books a week with ease.   In addition to her love of music and singing she also loved to paint and created countless paintings that represented places she had been or of events she had experienced.
