Mary Soares Oliveira, age 100, of New Haven passed away Jan. 26, 2017 in Mary Wade Home. She was the wife of the late Antonio Pereira Oliveira. Mrs. Oliveira was born in Bridgeport on Oct. 1, 1916, daughter of the late Jose Baptista and Antonia Julia Soares. She was a dietary worker at Yale New Haven Hospital for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1997. Mrs. Oliveira was very proud of her Cape Verdean heritage.  She resided at The Mary Wade Home for the past 3 years where she was well respected and well cared for. She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Oliveira of Hamden; two brothers, Antonio Soares of  Bridgeport and John Soares of Hamden; two grandchildren, Tryna Marie Ramos and Scott Antonio Ramos and his wife, Estela, both of California; a great granddaughter, Victoria Gutierrez and her husband, Erik; and a great great granddaughter, Roxy. She was predeceased by two brothers, Manuel & Joseph Soares and three sisters, Evelyn & Julia Soares and Pearl Santos.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martin dePorres Church Saturday morning at 10:00. Viewing prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery
