Margaret Mary Concetta (Peggy) Scafariello, 81, of Hamden, beloved wife of Salvatore Scafariello, passed away on Thursday December 16, 2021 in Ct Hospice, Branford. Loving mother of Michele (Robert) Makowicki, Mark (Patricia) Scafariello, and the late Salvatore Scafariello Jr. She was the sister of Jane Scognamillo and the late Ann Terese Masterson.
Margaret was born in New Haven December 8, 1940 daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Marrandino Storlazzi.
She is survived by her loving grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Alex Makowicki and Liam and Maighread Scafariello. Also survived by her wonderful sisters in law, brother in law and numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved friend Ann Marie Fuoco.
Peggy, as she was mostly called, loved to cook for her family and others. She loved to fill the house with plants and shrubs to the point that you could barely see the out doors. Aside from family she loved dogs especially her favorite Bella.
She graduated from Hamden High School, class of 1958, and met her loving husband Sal that fall. They were wed for 61 glorious years. To know Peggy was to love her without any conditions. 
Peggy and Sal loved to travel where there was sun and water, visiting Mexico, Aruba, Italy, and became enamored by river cruises to France and Germany. 
Peggy was devoted to her faith, the Catholic Church. She loved their Church of St. Ann in Hamden and volunteered in it’s soup kitchen for many years and then became a communicate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Friends and family are invited to play their respects to Peggy and her family Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM in the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm. St. New Haven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
