Lillian Arabolos Basel, 97, of East Haven, passed away October 24, 2022, in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the Edward S. Basel. Born in New Haven on November 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Irene Meliris Arabolos. She actively worked with her husband at Basel's Greek Restaurant on State Street, New Haven for more than 40 years until their retirement in 1987. She was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, yiayia and great-yiayia. She is survived by husband, Edward, daughter, Linda (Fred) Kwet and son William (Andrea) Basel; four grandchildren, Daniel Kwet (Yla), Michael Kwet, Elena Almodovar (Miguel), and Ariana (Nassib) Lutfi, three great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Mary Aftosmes and Sophia Chipouras; and brothers Henry, Dr. Michael, John, Charles and George Arabolos.
Friends may call at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, Friday at 10 am, with the funeral service to follow at 11 am. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to St. Barbara Church Building Fund.
