Lucia (Lucy) Bonadies Grelle, 95, of New Haven passed away peacefully on March 22, 2017 at Whitney  Rehab. and Care Center in Hamden with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Anthony C. Grelle. Lucia was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Tocco da Casauria, Italy, daughter of the late Constantino (James) and Maria Petromartine Bonadies. She served as a lunch lady at Davis St. School for more than 30 years and was well known as the “Lunch Lady of Westville”. She was greatly loved by the students, parents and teachers of the school. She was an active member of the Westville Senior Center until its closure. She was also a member of St. Aedan’s Ladies Eucharistic League, the Notre Dame Mother’s Club as well as being a Brownie and Boy Scout Leader.

Lucia is survived by her son, Richard P. Grelle of Florida; her daughter, Diane G. Callelo and her husband, Thomas Calello Jr. of Hamden; one brother, Eugene Bonadies of Woodbridge; cousins, Violet and John “Nino” Montopoli and Sylvia and Gregory Bonadies, all of Florida; along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was predeceased by a brother, Mario Bonadies

Special thanks to the wonderful staff and friends at Whitney Rehab. and Care Center, especially to Laura and Candida. She was well loved and cared for during her stay and her final days.

Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass in St. Aedan’s Church, 112 Fountain St. at 10:00. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
