JUDITH (Slater) BARERA

Judith Slater Barera, 79, of Hamden died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with breast cancer on April 1, 2023. She wad predeceased by the love of her life, husband, John Raymond Barera Sr., her parents William and Dorothy Egan Slater and her brother Thomas Slater. She leaves behind to mourn her caring sisters, Martha Warner and Margaret (Marge) Ottenbreit. A favorite aunt to nieces Donna Lee Slater and Laura Pinto Warner, nephews Mark and David Slater, Donald R. Warner, Chris and Jason Ottenbreit, and step son John Raymond Barera Jr. Judy retired after 28 years from Yale University in the Alumni Records Dept. She was a member of the Yale Retires Union Local 34. She was a passionate dog lover and raised many beautiful Symonds. She and John enjoyed spending free time at their large trailer home in Chester, VT. Judy was a kind and caring person and a good and loyal friend. She will be missed. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. New Haven Monday April 10th from 4-7 PM. A Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow with her husband in Green Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
