JOSEPHINE (Piscitelli) LINDQUIST Obituary

Josephine P. Lindquist, 97, of New Haven, passed away at her home in Fair Haven on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017. She was the widow of well known sports figure, John E. “Swede” Lindquist. Born in New Haven June 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Giovanina (Jennie) Papero Piscitelli. She attended Stone Business College and was Associate Executive Director of the Connecticut State Medical Society where she worked for 57 years until her retirement. During World War II, she was a civilian employee of the US War Dept. She was an active member of St. Donato’s Church prior to its closing where she participated in making palm crosses at Easter time. She was a member of St. Donato’s Altar Society and volunteered at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She enjoyed cruises to the islands with her husband and friends as well as weekend visits to New Hampshire and the activities at Branford Yacht Club, where her husband was commodore. All these included her beloved sister in law, the late Michaelina “Mickey” Piscitelli. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Joanna (Alphonse) Panzo of Branford, James (Karen) Piscitelli of East Haven and Nicholas Piscitelli of Sarasota, FL. as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Frank “Cheech” Piscitelli; her sister, Philomena “Fay” Celentano and her devoted sister in law, Michaelina “Mickey” Piscitelli.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church Friday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
