Gregory Parcella Obituary

With a booming laugh eclipsed only by his infectious giggle, Greg Parcella was one of those rare individuals with whom you consistently looked forward to spending time, knowing it would be full of fun (and then some). From a young age, several things about Greg were clear: he was incredibly bright (Bethany Community School, Amity High School and Carnegie Mellon University), he exuded his mother’s family’s (McPoyle) sense of humor and his father’s gift for storytelling, and he would not be bound by convention. These long-held traits served him well in all facets of life and explain why dear childhood friends and the myriad close friends he made as he grew older and ventured outside of Connecticut remember Greg similarly. He was true to himself and the belief that life is something to be experienced, not endured.

For all of his professional accomplishments (most recently as Director of Business Development and Client Relations at Roubaix Capital), Greg understood that a job is a means to an end. Work opened doors to the places he wanted to explore, the adventures he sought to have, and the people he hoped to meet along the way. Inherently valuing relationships, Greg sought to make memories whenever and wherever possible, and he had a penchant for enlisting others in these pursuits (often to their spouses’ consternation). Be it a night of laughs over a wonderful meal, a day of laughs attending a World Cup game, or a week of laughs travelling abroad, Greg was committed to taking full advantage of the good fortune that God bestowed on him. Those lucky enough to join Greg along the journey came away the richer for it.

Greg’s family – parents Richard and Mary, siblings Beth (husband Todd) and Rich, nephew Lucas and nieces Kate, Jade and Claire – miss him deeply, struggling to comprehend how they will fill the void his sudden absence leaves. We also realize that we are far from alone in our grief. Indeed, in the short time between learning of Greg’s tragic passing and preparing this remembrance, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from family and friends in the many places Greg lived and visited. Greg was a joy and blessing to so many, as is his memory that lives on in each of us.
