Frances Sanguedolce, 83, died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. Born in Waterbury on August 9, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Concetta (Speciale) Sanguedolce. Frances came to live at the Southbury Training School at the age of twelve in November, 1947.
For the past 14 years, Frances was involved with in-home and Opportunities for Older Adults (OOA) day programs which provided recreation, leisure, socialization, and community activities. Prior to that, she was involved for 7 years with the Community Residences Inc. (CRI) day program in Middlebury, and prior to that, various habilitative, recreational and leisure day programs at STS over many years. Frances was a friendly, easy-going woman, who enjoyed movies, shopping, music, arts and crafts, and keeping a neat and orderly environment; her family was very important to her.
Ms. Sanguedolce’s survivors include her brother, Victor Sanguedolce (Paula) of Salisbury, NC; niece Anne Legg (David) of East Haven, and nephew Peter Zaino (Doreen) of North Haven. She was predeceased by her sister Rose (Sanguedolce) Zaino and niece Catherine (Zaino) Goodness. She will be missed by her family, friends, and staff who have worked with her over the years.
Arrangements are through Celentano Funeral Home, New Haven with a private graveside service and burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven at a later date. Memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be made to the STS Home & School Association, P.O. Box 872, Southbury, CT 06488-0901
