November 9, 2021 8:54 AMDearest Adrienne,Robert, and Matthew,
My lifelong friend, mentor, classmate, quarterback, coach has gone before us to his heavenly
reward. At Fairfield, his athletic prowess was demonstrated on the intramural football gridiron as he directed Gerard Egan and myself to an undefeated campaign against all comers. Gene had many accomplishments due to his intellect and compassion and he will have many testimonials recalling those events . However, I am sure Gene will have a chuckle because I will be the only one to brag about his record as the winningest QB to set foot on the field at FU. We called him "Coach" in his student days. A name he earned and relished. I recall those early days to stem the tears from blurring all the sadness of his passing. I will keep Gino in my thoughts and prayers and know that we lost one of our "Greatest Generation"
