Ernesto Lopez, 84, of 135 Sylvan Ave., New Haven passed away Sept. 28, 2017 in The Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was born Sept. 20, 1933 in Barahona, Dominican Republic, son of the late Fernando and Rosa Julia Rivera Lopez. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a diesel engine mechanic. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Lopez Anastasio of New Haven; his son, Ernie Lopez of Hawaii; two brothers, Maximo Lopez of New Haven and Jorge Lopez in the Dominican Republic; a sister, Aminta Lopez-Valdez, also in the Dominican Republic; and one grandchild, Emery Johnson.

Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. A prayer service will take place during the visiting hours..
