ERNA BUCHMEIER Obituary

Erna Buchmeier, 88, passed away peacefully in New Haven April 12, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the wife of 52 years to the late Richard Buchmeier Sr.. Erna was born in Yugoslavia March 2, 1935 daughter of the late Cornelius and Christine Hein. Besides her husband and parents she was also predeceased by her grandson, Paul Oquendo. She was a proud, caring, and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Mrs. Buchmeier was a devout Christian. She enjoyed gardening, reading, donating to numerous charities, taking care of her family, and loved making friends and conversing with people from all walks of life. She loved meeting new people and learning about their culture and foods. She helped everyone and was always there in their time of need. Erna is survived by her children Veronica Oquendo, Debra (Jeff) Cartier, and Richard Buchmeier Jr., her grandchildren Benjamin and Nicholas Buchmeier, Richard and Christina Cartier, and her great grandchildren Alex and Ava Oquendo.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven, CT Tuesday at 11:00 AM. A visitation will take place one hour prior from 9 - 11 AM. Interment with her husband and grandson will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
