Ella Smith Sowa of Branford, passed away March 18, 2017 in the Apple Rehab. Facility in Guilford with her husband by her side. She was the beloved wife of Bohdan Sowa. Mrs. Sowa was born in Georgiaville, R.I. daughter of the late Clinton J. and Marjorie Smith. She worked in the Accounting Dept. of the Knights of Columbus Supreme Headquarters in New Haven for more than 30 years. She enjoyed reading, especially reading her bible daily. She was a fan of old Gary Cooper movies, the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and New York Giants. She enjoyed traveling and dining out. Mrs. Sowa was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, one brother, James (Jean) Smith of North Carolina; a nephew and two nieces. Bohdan Sowa would like to thank Dr. Richard Slater and the entire staff of Apple Rehab. in Guilford for their kindness and attention.

At Ella’s request, a private Panachyda service and interment took place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
