Elizabeth M. Papa, 93, of Wallingford, formerly of Orange, passed away at her home on July 15th, 2021. She was the beloved wife of 61 years of the late Arthur J. Papa. Mrs. Papa was born on October 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Elvira Paolini Vigliotti and grew up in the Fair Haven section of New Haven and spent 50 years living in Orange. She spent over 25 years working for Regional School District # 5 as a cafeteria aide caring for the children of Amity as well as raising her four sons. Elizabeth was a person of deep faith and was a member of Holy Infant Church in Orange. She traveled extensively during her retirement and Italy, which she visited several times, was one of her favorite vacations. She also enjoyed her winters in Tequesta, Florida at Little Club, where she golfed, knitted, and socialized with her friends. She was known for exceptional cooking and family recipes, with her eggplant parm getting the highest praise always being the first dish gone at family gatherings.
She is survived by her sons, John (Gigi), David (Ellen), and Paul (Christi) Papa, her grandchildren Olivia, Nick, Valerie, Jillian Papa and Karen and Michelle Milner; her brother John Vigliotti, and sister in law Paula Caruso. Elizabeth will also be missed by her nephews, nieces, and grand nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son Mark and her sister Nancy Vigliotti.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday July 26th in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow with her husband and son in Orange Center Cemetery.
