Dwight Harry Ottenbreit passed away suddenly July 8, 2023. He leaves to mourn him, his wife of 66 years Margaret Slater, and his two devoted sons, Christopher and Jason of New Haven. He also leaves his pride and joy, grandson Brian Graham of Meriden and great grandson Talan Cook of Westbrook. Youngest of ten children he is also survived his sister Nell Parisi of New Haven, and many nieces and nephews. Dwight was predeceased by his parents Parenka and Stanley Ottenbreit, brothers Henry, Joseph, George, and Robert and sisters Ann, Emily, June, and Mary. Dwight served honorably for four years in the United States Air Force as a Strategic Air Command inflight air refueling specialist (boom operator) refueling jet bombers on KC 97 and KC 135 aircraft. He attended Southern Conn. State College and began a lifelong career in real estate and restoration. He founded and was Director of Care and Safe House where he provided housing and other services for veterans and other people with special needs. He and Marge loved to go on cruises to the Caribbean over the past fifteen years. He was a generous, kind, and caring person and will be sorely missed by those who knew him. Friends and family may pay their respects at the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven on Saturday July 22nd from 10 AM until 12:00. A funeral service will be held at Noon. Burial will be private.
