Brian Caldwell DeBowes Sr, 71, of New Haven, passed away peacefully November 29, 2023, at his home after a long illness. He was the husband, for 47 years, of Ellen Duffy DeBowes. Born in New Haven May 26, 1952, a son of the late James Jr. and Noreen Dunleavy DeBowes Brian graduated from the CT School of Electronics and Albertus Magnus College and retired from the IT department of the State of CT Judicial Branch. His favorite memories include driving to Florida for spring vacation, summer vacation in Lake George, cruises to Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas including a special trip to Ireland to watch his daughter Lauren compete in the Irish Dance World Championships. He loved spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren Claire, Dylan, Eleanora, and Owen. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and walking at Maltby Lakes. Nothing gave him more pleasure than bringing his children and their friends tubing and waterskiing, and of course he was a lifelong fan of NY Giants. Besides his wife and grandchildren he is survived by daughters; Meghan DeBowes and Lauren (Lawrence) Betro; a son Brian (Meggie) DeBowes Jr.; sisters June Ellen Patton and Carolyn Maloney; a brother David DeBowes; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers Thomas and James DeBowes III. We wish to express our sincere thanks to his care team of over 30 years, Dr. John Chandler, Dr. Mark Kasper, and Dr. Mark Schoenfeld who guided him with expert and compassionate care through the ups and downs of multiple illnesses. A special thank you Dr. Alan Rodrigues, Dr. Christopher Maulion, and the Homecare Plus team whose compassionate care and support in his final stage of life allowed him to pass peacefully with comfort and dignity.
