Anna (Hagopian) Jinetopulos

Anna Hagopian Jinetopulos passed away peacefully in her sleep in Branford, CT on February 26, 2022 with her daughter by her side.  Anna was most recently from East Haven but had been a long time resident of New Haven where she was born to the late Charles and Lucy Sermabeikian Hagopian on April 4, 1927.  She was predeceased by her brother James Hagopian. 

Anna graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven in 1945 and worked in the office at Geometric Tool Company for many years.  She was also the owner and proprietor of Ann’s Food Shoppe on Edgewood Avenue where she served vanilla sodas and lemon ices to the neighborhood.  Anna retired from her favorite job as a supervisor at the Ann Taylor Distribution Center where she had first views of the latest fashions. 

Anna was a congregant of the Old Stone Church in East Haven where she spent many Saturdays working in the Thrift Shop.  A fiercely independent woman, Anna was an avid walker and could be seen walking everywhere toting her Appalachian walking stick.  She loved all animals, but especially cats, particularly Bachik who had been her best cat for so many years.

Anna leaves her daughter Helen and son-in-law George Pertesis and her step-grandchildren and their families Leah and Jason Rentkowicz and their son Lucas, and Stephen Pertesis and his daughter Lyla, as well as loving nieces and nephews.

Anna’s family wishes to express gratitude to all who cared for her particularly Gillian, Jazmine, and Alisha for their outstanding and loving attention.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be on Saturday March 5 at the Old Stone Church, 251 Main Street, East Haven, CT where viewing will begin at 9:00 followed by the service at 10:00. Committal immediately following at Beaverdale Cemetery, New Haven.  Please consider a memorial contribution in Anna’s name to the Old Stone Church Steeple Fund, 251 Main Street, East Haven, CT  06512 to help maintain this National Historic Landmark.
