Mildred Smarz Negri, formerly of Arcadia Ave., Hamden passed away on Thursday January 28, 2021 with her daughter by her side. Born in Seymour May 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Julia Gluz Smarz of Shelton, CT. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Mildred was predeceased by her husband Rinaldo Lee Negri. She was the mother of Carolyn N. (Philip “Chuck”) Hartten of Redding, CT and Anthony Peter (Kathleen Downs) Negri of Beavercreek, OH.
Mildred was blessed with 5 grandchildren. Philip Christopher (Megan) Hartten of Fulton, MD, Kara Elizabeth Hartten of Grand Forks ND, Joseph A. (Jenn) Negri of Pataskala OH, Robert (Erin) Negri and Christina Negri of Beavercreek, OH. She was great grandmother to 7 wonderful children.
Mildred taught in the Hamden Public Schools for over 20 years and was a long time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church. She loved gardening, needle crafts, reading, traveling with her close friend Rosemary Berton, and caring for her pets.
A graveside service, where she will be laid to rest with her husband , will be held in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, CT Thursday Feb. 4th at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Joseph Cervero of St. Patrick Church, Redding, CT presiding.
