Daniel “Corky” Capone passed away on September 17, 2020. He was a life long resident of West Haven. He leaves behind Son Danny (Debra ) Capone Daughter Maria (Stan ) Benedetto. Grandchildren Daniel and Jeffrey Capone, Tara (Sean) Bartley. Sister Jane Siena and Sister-in-law’s Linda Cottiero and Francis Schmitt and dear friend of over 50 years Joe Savastano. Predeceased by his wife Lee and daughter Lisa and brothers Sonny, Chucky and sisters Peggy and Mary. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was a Army Veteran who served in the Korean War as a cook. He had the privilege to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for General Eisenhower. His pleasure was being with his family and friends and cooking his famous sauce and meatballs and building birdhouse for them.
The past 2 years he has been a resident at Seacrest Retirement Center. We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts to the entire staff for taking such good care of him and making it his home. He developed a special bond with Louis which he considered him to be his third grandson who took such good care of his Poppy. Who ever met Papa Corky fell in love with him instantly.
Friends and family are invited to the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven Tuesday from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church, 307 Main St. West Haven at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will take place in All Saints Cemetery.
