Irene Fifis, 91, of Hillsborough, N.J. passed away June 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Dimitrios Fifis. Mrs. Fifis was born in Andros, Greece on Sept. 12, 1925, daughter of the late Ioannis and Violetta Bafaloukos. She came to America in 1969 with her husband and children, settling in New Haven, CT. Upon her retirement, she moved to New Jersey to live with her daughter until her death. She visited Greece almost every year to spend time with her many relatives. She worked hard, helped everyone and was loved by everyone. Irene will be remembered as the best mom and grandma. She will be greatly missed. Irene is survived by her son, Augoustis (Maria) Fifis of Orange, CT.; her daughter, Olympia (late Demetrios) Tzovolos of Hillsborough, N.J., with whom she resided; 3 brothers, Theodoros (Rina) Bafaloukos, Nicholaos (Fani) Bafaloukos and Petros (Chrisoula) Bafaloukos, all in Athens, Greece; five grandchildren, Calliopi (Elias) Vladis, Demetri (Evanglia) Fifis, Irene (Pete) Tarasov, Demetrios (Arete) Tzovolos and Eleni (Sandro) Iannella; seven great grand children, George Vlandis, Katerina & Demetri Tarasov, Luca & Marinna Iannella, Anastasia & Augoustine Fifis; and many other relatives, both here and in Greece. Friends are invited to pay their respects at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange Thursday from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral and burial will take place in Andros, Greece. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 85 Voorhees Corner Road, Flemington, N.J. 08822 or Eisodia theotokou (Agrithiotissa), Gianiseo, Andros, Greece.
