Veronica Elsie Hooker Elizabeth Costello Henninger, 95, of Branford passed away Nov. 14, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital of a sudden illness. A Branford resident since 1953, she was the widow of August H. Henninger. Veronica was born in New Haven on July 9, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Faulstich) Costello. She was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine O’Donnell, Rita Girard and brother Wilson Costello. She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Moser of Southbury, one daughter, Sharon Henninger of Branford, two sons, Carl Henninger (Barbara) of Acworth, N.H. and Robert Henninger of New Haven; five grandchildren, Tom Henninger, Tim (Estella) Henninger, Johnathon Henninger, Sheryl (Scott) Wood, Teresa (Rick) Henninger-Holm and six great grandchildren; Pheonix and Abigail Henninger, Jimmy Harrison, Evan and James Henninger and Samuel Wood. She was an original member of the CT. Valley Mycological Society, founded in 1975. Employed at Silly Putty in East Haven and the Vernon Glove Company in Stony Creek, Branford. A 1939 graduate from Hillhouse H.S. Friends may call at Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave. Friday 10:00 am. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
