Craig S. Hoffer, 51, of 16 Shady Lane, Woodbridge passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 1, 2012. He was the beloved husband for 29 years of Lori Guarino Hoffer. Born in Elizabeth, N.J. on March 24, 1961, he was the son of Robert and Dolores Saige Hoffer of Bradenton, FL. A graduate of Amity High School, he attended the University of New Haven and graduated from Westfield State College where he was a baseball pitcher. He passed his love of sports onto his daughters, who inherited his sports talents as well as his love for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. If Craig was not at the game to cheer his teams, he was sporting his team jersey and screaming at the television. He worked in the wine distributing and importing business for 28 years. Through his work, he enjoyed travels to Italy, France, Australia and California. He was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and loved to educate others to enjoy it. Although he had an opportunity to travel through his work, his ultimate vacation spot was Newport, Rhode Island. Being near the beach and spending quality, uninterrupted family time was all he ever needed. Craig was a hero to his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and will be remembered for his big smile and bear hugs. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica Hoffer, both of Woodbridge; a brother, Robert Hoffer of Boston; a sister, Christine Hoffer of Hamden; his in-laws, Louis and Rose Guarino of Orange; his brother in law and sister in law, Michael and Susana Guarino of Hoboken, N.J. and his beloved yellow Lab, "Angel".

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Road, Woodbridge Saturday, August 4th at 10:00. Following the Mass, the family will be receiving visitors at 16 Shady Lane, Woodbridge from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jennifer & Jessica College Education Fund, c/o Peoples United Bank, 198 Amity Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525

Dear Lori, Jen and Jessica,

I am so so sorry for your loss. Craig was such a wonderful man, very genuine and down to earth and it was evident how much he loved his family. I have such good memories of the times I spent with you all during Wildcats softball. We were like an extended family and I know that is rare. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
