Rose Donroe Valentino, age 100, of 311 Eastern St., New Haven passed away Dec. 6, 2011 in The Connecticut Hospice after a brief illness. She was the widow of Ben J. Valentino. Mrs. Valentino was born in New Haven Oct. 19, 1911, daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite Avallone Donroe. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Sunbeam Dress Shop for more than 25 years. She was an active volunteer at the Hospital of St. Raphael and was a foster grandmother. She is survived by her son, Neil Valentino of Manchester, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lucy Celentano and Anne Donroe; and seven brothers, Anthony Donarumo, Michael, Louis, Joseph, William, Albert and Alfred Donroe. Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Saturday, Dec. 10th at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church, 397 Ferry St. at 10:00. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 9:30. Entombment in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum.
