Jack Francis Salerno, 84, of Masonic Ave., Wallingford, formerly of 125 Putnam Ave., Hamden, passed away Oct. 11, 2008 in Masonic Health Center, Wallingford. Born in New Haven Aug. 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Donato and Maria Grazia Cerrone Salerno. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the former Charles W. Scranton Co., Bank of Boston and Harold's Antiques of New Haven on Whalley Ave. He served in the US Army during World War II. He is survived by two brothers, John (Antoinette) Salerno of Torrance, CA. and Charles (Elaine) Salerno of New Haven; three sisters, Ellen Concelmo & Anna (Edward) Murphy, both of Milford and Elizabeth Curci of Hamden; several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Pasquale, Albert, Daniel, George & Francis Salerno and three sisters, Mary Caliendo, Josephine Salerno & Phyllis Santarcangelo. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church, 397 Ferry St. Friday morning at 9:30. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492; CT.
