Lillian LaVorgna LoPresti, 84, formerly of 115 Wayland St., North Haven, passed away Dec. 31, 2011 in Hamden Health Care after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Joseph LoPresti. Mrs. LoPresti was born in New Haven April 5, 1927, daughter of the late Lawrence and Lillian Velardi LaVorgna. A long time North Haven resident, she worked at the old Grace Hospital and was a customer service representative for Nationwide Insurance for 19 years prior to her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Rita’s Church Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Double Beach Club where she forged many lifelong friendships. She was an avid card player and loved to travel. The family would like to thank the staff at Hamden Health Care for their loving care and attention. She is survived by one son, Richard J. LoPresti of North Haven; two daughters, Joanne (Philip) Miller of North Haven and Maria (Donald) Gargano of Branford; two sisters, Gloria (Dino) Bonci and Georgianna (Walter) Antonelli, both of West Haven; one brother, Albert LaVorgna of Berlin; seven grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Victoria, Rebecca, Anthony (Jackie), Angela and Ralph; and one great grandchild, Abigail. Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Saturday, Jan. 7th at 9:15. Mass in St. Barnabas Church, Washington Ave., North Haven at 10:00. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 3 to 6 pm and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:15 am. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Joseph LoPresti Memorial Scholarship Fund, Amity Charitable Trust Fund, P.O. Box 4129, Yalesville, CT 06492.
